The protagonist of the story is Guts. He’s a tall, muscular man with a huge sword called the Dragon Slayer. Guts was trained to be a mercenary since his childhood, but later in his life finds himself as one of the commanders of the Band of the Hawk. He always searches for a way to become stronger. Guts also has a bad habit of going into fights without waiting for his comrades. In the time spent with the Band he gradually begins to have feelings towards Casca.
